Michelle Yeoh, star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, has finally received the Hollywood respect she has long deserved.

Yeoh won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her lead performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once, a multiverse-exploring action/comedy/drama, and she now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with the actor and martial artist set to star in the new action thriller The Surgeon.

Variety describes Yeoh as a "stylized" retired surgeon who is abducted and forced to operate on a mystery patient.  Despite being vastly outnumbered, her captors have overlooked her most powerful weapon: 35 years of surgical training," resulting in a "explosive and savage confrontation" in which she dispatches foes "in a visual style that transcends anything you have seen before."

'The Surgeon' comes from the producers of the 'John Wick' franchise.

The Surgeon will be up for grabs at this month's Cannes and will be written and directed by Rohsan Sethi, a surgeon himself, who will collaborate with producers Patrick Wachsberger of Legendary and Thunder Road Films' Basil Iwankyk, who have found enormous success with the John Wick franchise.  Are there any action films left that haven't been affected by Keanu Reeves' Baba Yaga?  The Surgeon hopes to establish its own franchise.

"I'm so excited to bring something brand new and innovative to the action genre based heavily on my medical background," said writer and director Rohsan Sethi.
